Τίτλος: Call for participation: Social actions for multilingualism and inclusion!

Are you interested in community-oriented ways to enhance multilingualism and multiculturalism? Are you passionate about working with marginalised communities or just curious to learn about socially-empowering practices in education?

Then, the BOLD social action series is for YOU!

What is it about?

A series of face-to-face meetings and workshops that aim to develop your knowledge and skills in designing and implementing participatory and socially-innovative actions with a marginalised community (Deaf adults in Thessaloniki). The actions are part of the EU-funded BOLD project (see description below) and will take place from March to May 2025.

Participants profile

We are looking for 3rd- or 4th-year students who will be willing to cooperate with Deaf adults. Participants should be aware of the fact that Deaf people have a range of language and communication difficulties but a strong motivation to overcome these difficulties. Knowledge of Greek sign language is desirable but not a prerequisite.

Additional info

Evolving around the theme of Health, you will be co-designing digital resources (short videos) together with Deaf citizens (through the mediation of sign language interpreters) to cater to their needs, namely explanatory videos to facilitate communication in health-related situations. Some stages of this process are: the design, storyboard creation, script, scenario of video aiming to ease the communication between Deaf citizens and healthcare staff.

Workload

Teams will meet approx. twice a month, starting mid March 2025.

Dates and times of project meetings will be agreed with participants.

Recognition

Certificate (in the form of verifiable credential) will be provided by Web2Learn, and visibility of your contribution (on the Internet, social media).

About the BOLD project

BOLD (“Building on Linguistic and Cultural Diversity for social action within and beyond European universities”, 2022-2025) is an Erasmus+ KA2 project that aims to bridge the gap between initial teacher education and engagement in society by supporting student teachers’ civic engagement and active citizenship. To achieve its goal, BOLD promotes collaboration of higher education institutions with civil organisations and associations to nurture social action and civic engagement in students and academic staff.
