Today, March 21st, we celebrate World Poetry Day, a day dedicated to honoring the timeless power of poetry.
It has been twenty-six years since UNESCO proclaimed this day, recognizing poetry’s unique ability to capture the creative spirit of the human mind. Throughout history, poetry has helped us navigate challenges, make sense of life, and find meaning in transitional moments.
Poetry invites us to dive into a sea of emotions and thoughts, encouraging us to go beyond our preconceptions. It liberates us, urging us to embrace our shared humanity, cherish life, and awaken our creativity. In times of uncertainty and unrest, poetry reminds us to be more compassionate and less ignorant of each other.
To mark this special occasion, students from the course “TIS 311 Literary Translation” engaged in creative work, stepping into the roles of poets, translators, and artists. Through their imagination and dedication, they have brought to life a body of work that speaks to the creative power within us all.
