Chel'ik sambiek is the ceremony in which a 4-7 year-old child will be dressed the Kalasha costume for the first time by the maternal uncles. It takes place only at Cawmos or Zhoshi festivals. It cannot be celebrated at Ucaw. Regarding the costumes, the girl will be dressed the traditional clothes a Kalasha woman wears: a long black embroidered dress, the piran, a long woven belt, the pati, and the kupas, a headdress decorated with coweri shells, and later on the shushut, a decorated headband with a tail. The boy will wear the kamiz, a long white shirt, the chel'ik, a white woven belt, and the osainyi, a white turban. After two years he will wear the bhut ‘shalvar’ and the kas'ong ‘woolen hat’. After the child is dressed the Kalasha costume and the presents are given to the godfathers (i.e. large pots and white turbans) who also bring gifts such as goats, sheep or even a cow, a big entertainment starts with eating and drinking wine as well as singing, clapping and dancing.
