Description
This module focuses on the specific characteristics of advertising discourse and promotional texts and on the ways in which their persuasive force can be retained in translation. Students develop textual and contextual analysis skills essential for effective translation decisions, drawing on conceptual tools from linguistics, semiotics and rhetoric, with an emphasis on creativity and problem-solving. Selected units also examine the role that Large Language Models (LLMs) may play in authoring and editing persuasive messages. Weekly classes combine discussion, group work and hands-on translation exercises, ranging from strategic lexical choices to the creative rearrangement of information and complete rewriting of messages (transcreation).
