A discussion with experts, mainly from the field of linguistics, on the application of non-sexist language in oral and written speech, the development of awareness strategies in education and the media against sexist language, the forms of professional nouns and promotion of heightened awareness of the general population on gender and language issues. The meeting was organised by Nina Topintzi (Associate Professor at the School of English) and Stavroula Tsiplakou (Associate Professor, Open University of Cyprus). It featured as guest speakers members of the School (Marianthi Makri-Tsilipakou, Professor Emerita; Angeliki Alvanoudi, lecturer on contract) and other distinguished scientists in the field (Costas Canakis, Maria Gasouka, Marianthi Georgalidou, Dimitra Kogidou, Theodosia-Soula Pavlidou, Anastasia Stamou, Roula Tsokalidou).
