Virginia Dakari

Assistant Professor - Department of American Literature and Culture

Vinia Dakari is Assistant Professor of American Theatre and Culture at the School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She holds a PhD in American Theatre and Culture from the same department, on the aesthetics of cancer-related performance in contemporary American theatre. Her scholarship focuses on twentieth- and twenty-first-century American theatre and performance, Medical and Health Humanities, and Narrative Medicine. Her publications examine the intersections of theatre, health, and illness, while her practice-based work explores the application of theatre and narrative in healthcare and medical education. Since 2020, she has been leading Greek-language Narrative Medicine workshops for Columbia University's Program in Narrative Medicine. She also conducts ongoing embedded ethnographic research with the MetaxAct Theatre Group at Metaxa Cancer Hospital in Athens and serves as a founding member and board member of the Hellenic Society of Psychosocial Oncology.
