ÅVENT ABSTRACT

UNDER SIEGE is a hybrid role-playing game which brings together elements of code-based interactive narratives and physical adventure games through the use of digital and material resources. The game is conceptualized, constructed and coordinated by the Multimodal Research and Reading Group of School of English (AUTh).

As the title suggests, the story revolves around an unprecedented and challenging situation that puts our School of English as a physical location at the center of attention. Players participating in the game are asked to solve a series of puzzles and riddles revolving mostly around pop culture, and American and English literature, by resorting to different skills. Participation is essential. So it is necessary for players to work collaboratively in teams.

GROUP MEMBERS

The Multimodal Research and Reading Group focuses on the examination of multimodal narrative techniques. Its members are postgraduate students as well as Ph.D. candidates and Ph.D. holders from the School of English (AUTh) with an interest in multimodality, digital and transmedia storytelling, and digital literary and visual production. The group is keen on interdisciplinary projects and collaborations as well as on the organization of creative workshops and presentations. For information about its members please click here.
