The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) via the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) offers opportunities to MA students to apply for its PhD programme. 

The HKPFS offers an excellent opportunity for students wishing to engage in advanced research and make significant contributions to their respective fields. It provides a monthly stipend to cover living expenses, allowing PhD candidates to focus on their research. The selection criteria include excellent academic performance, a strong research proposal, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Overview of the HKPFS

• Target: Candidates with strong academic backgrounds and research potential from around the world to pursue PhD studies in Hong Kong
• Fellowship: A monthly stipend of HK$28,400* (approx. US$3,640) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,200* (approx. US$1,820) per year for up to three years

*For the 2025/26 academic year and subject to adjustment in 2026/27

Application Procedure:

• Step 1: Submit an initial application to the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong through its online application system
  
• Step 2: Submit a full application through the EdUHK Admission System and quote the HKPFS reference number

Application deadline:

1 December 2025 at 12:00 noon (Hong Kong Time)
