27th International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Linguistics
15-17 May 2026, Thessaloniki, Greece
Thematic Session
Applications of Cognitive Linguistics
Workshop organizers: Dr. Thomai Dalpanagioti (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Dr. Anastasios Vogiatzis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki)
The thematic session focuses on the diverse and growing range of applications of cognitive linguistics across disciplines, highlighting its relevance beyond theoretical modelling and into real-world domains. Cognitive linguistics, with its emphasis on meaning, embodiment, and conceptualization, offers powerful tools, such as metaphor, metonymy, image schemas, construction grammar, irony, hyperbole, and other less commonly researched figures, for analyzing and addressing problems in communication, education, translation, health discourse, artificial intelligence, and beyond.
