Culture and Cognition in Language 3, Rzeszów, 27-28 April, 2023
The Department of English Studies at the University of Rzeszów has the pleasure of announcing the third edition of the conference Culture and Cognition in Language: CCL 3. Research Group meetings for the 2022-2023 Winter Semester will take place on-line via Zoom on 8/10, 22/10, 5/11, 19/11, 3/12 and 17/12.
Prof. Daniel Kölligan (Würzburg University), will give a talk on March 22nd (2:30-4:30 PM, Milan time [3:30-5:30 PM Thessaloniki time]) on “Conceptual metaphors and historical linguistics – some case studies”. This talk is in the frame of the lecture series “Historical Linguistics and Philology” of the University of Pavia. To participate please register in advance by sending an email to riccardo.ginevra@unicatt.it, specifying if you plan to attend in person or online. Online participants will receive a Microsoft Teams link.
Research Group meetings for the 2021-2022 Spring Semester will take place on 15/1, 12/2, 26/2, 19/3, 9/4, 7/5, 21/5, 4/6 and 18/6. Meetings will be held on-line via Zoom unless face to face meetings are allowed in the University.

FTL 4 in Braga (23-26 October 2018) has been a very
successful conference with really inspiring presentations.
Seven members of the RG took part and presented papers in general and in theme
sessions: Angeliki Athanasiadou, Martha Lampropoulou, Vivian Pavlopoulou, Giota Syrpa,
Maria Theodoropoulou, Kiki Tsapakidou, Thodoris Xioufis.
A very important event within the conference was the Young Researchers’ Award.

RG member Despoina Felekidou received funding for her PhD Study from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). Project: Strengthening Human Resources Research Potential via Doctorate Research (MIS-5000432).
PhD defense: One of the members of the RG, Effie Tsaroucha,
is going to defend her PhD thesis on Friday, June 29, at
11 o'clock, at Room 308 loft. The title of the thesis is: "A
Cognitive Linguistics Approach to English Phrasal Verbs".
You are all invited.
Dr Diana Forker will visit the Department of Theoretical and
Applied Linguistics during the week 23-27 April. She will give a
lecture, in the framework of the undergraduate course "Cognitive English
Grammar" (2-492), on Tuesday April 24th, 16.00-18.30. The
title is: The linguistic expression of space in languages of the
Caucasus and beyond.
On Wednesday April 25th, 10.00-13.00, she will give a lecture in
the framework of the postgraduate course "Language Structure and
Cognition" (522). The title is: Evidentiality and related categories.
On Thursday April 26th at 14.00 she will participate in
the meeting of the Cognitive Linguistics Research Group, Room 308
loft.

'Cognitive Poetics in Service of Poetry Writing': A creative writing
workshop will be offered on Friday 16th October by Alexandra

This writing workshop is going to take place at School of English Library
(New Philosophy Building 3rd floor) between 18:00-20:00.

A. Christakidou has penned a poetry collection titled: Το Ηλιόκρινο To Iliokrino (The Sun Lilly), published by Εκδόσεις Σπανίδης (Spanidis Publications). Much of the material in the collection was inspired by research into Cognitive Poetics.
