Eleni Tsiartsioni
Eleni Tsiartsioni holds a PhD in Linguistics from the Aristotle
University of Thessaloniki, an MPhil in Applied Linguistics from the
University of Dublin, Trinity College, and a BA in English Language and
literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (awarded with
distinction). The title of her PhD thesis is ‘The acquisition of speech
rhythm and stop voicing by Greek learners of English: a pedagogical and
linguistic approach’ and her research interests include second and
foreign language phonological acquisition, acoustic analyses of speech
production and pronunciation teaching methodology. She has taught the
course ‘Language Mastery I’ at the School of English, Aristotle
University of Thessaloniki, and she currently works as a teacher of
English in secondary education. She has worked as an oral examiner of
English language for the National Foreign Language Exams (KPG) and as a
teacher trainer for the State School Teacher Training Programmes (PEK).
She participates as a research assistant in the research project
VOCALECT (vowels of Greek dialects: phonetic and phonological analysis,
dialect index construction and diffusion of results through educational
material, Greek Ministry of Education Grant).
