14th International Conference of Applied Linguistics

This volume includes a selection of the papers that were presented at the 14th International Conference of Applied Linguistics, organized by the Greek Applied Linguistics Association (GALA) in Thessaloniki on 14-16 December 2007. The theme of the conference was: "Advances in Research on Language Acquisition and Teaching". All articles submitted were blind reviewed by a committee of reviewers; we wish to thank all of them for taking the time to read and comment on the papers as their contribution in the selection process was significant. Out of the 47 papers submitted, 37 were finally selected for publication in the volume of Selected Papers.

This volume consists of four sections which respectively include: a) invited speakers' contributions, b) papers in Greek, c) papers in English and d) papers in French.

In order to facilitate dissemination of this published work but also for ecological and economic reasons, we decided to release the present volume in electronic form (CD); at the same time the volume will be uploaded on the website of GALA: www.enl.auth.gr/gala

We would like to thank the members of the organizing committee and the members of the Board of GALA who entrusted us with the editing of this volume and supported our work.
