Vasileios Symeonidis holds a PhD in Linguistics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (with distinction). He also holds an MA in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (with distinction) and a BA in German Language and Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His doctoral dissertation, titled “The diachrony of linguistic complexity: Reanalysis and Frequency,” explores the evolution of grammatical complexity in language change and the relationship between structural linguistic parameters and usage-based factors. His research interests lie in syntax, historical linguistics, language change, and quantitative approaches to linguistic theory. He has presented his research in numerous international conferences, including the Societas Linguistica Europaea (SLE), the International Conference on Greek Linguistics (ICGL), the International Conference on Historical Linguistics (ICHL), and International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (ISTAL). His papers have been published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings and edited volumes, including The Naxos Papers and Simplicité et complexité des langues dans l’histoire des théories linguistiques (SHESL, 2023).  Since 2024, he has been a member of the H.F.R.I.-funded project “A Corpus-based Valency Lexicon for a Contrastive and Diachronic Study of Ancient & Medieval Languages (CVL-CDSAML).”
