Michalis Kokonis Professor at the Department of Translation and Intercultural Studies Dr. Michalis Kokonis is currently a Professor in the School of English, at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research focuses on issues of narratology in cinema and the novel and on cultural studies. He has published articles, essays and monographs on literary and film theory and criticism, as well as on cultural studies. Among his recent publications are included articles and monographs on the Classic and New Hollywood Cinema, on old and contemporary Greek Cinema, on Cognitive Semiotics, and lately on the Semiotics of Videogames. He is co-editor of the collective volume Digital Media: The Culture of Sound and Spectacle, (2010) by Kritiki publications, to which he has contributed a chapter on the videogame culture. He is also editor of the Cultural Studies Series, a translation program in which key theoretical film books are rendered into Greek. The first two volumes are already in circulation, Robert B Ray’s A Certain Tendency of the Hollywood Cinema, 1930-1980 [Μια κάποια τάση του χολιγουντιανού κινηματογράφου, 1930-1980] (2011) and Thomas Schatz’s Hollywood Genres: Formulas, Filmmaking and the Studio System [Τα είδη ταινιών του Χόλιγουντ: Φόρμουλες, κινηματογραφία, και το σύστημα παραγωγής των στούντιο] (2012), both University Studio publications.
