Dr Evangelia Soulioti

Foreign Language Teaching and Learning is the main area of my research interest and has been the focus of my studies so far. I received my BA Honours degree in English Language and Literature from Aristotle University in Greece in 2001. In 2007 I was awarded my PhD from Ioannina University in Greece (thesis title: “English Language Teaching in Greece from 1913 to 1967: The Case of Ioannina Prefecture. Methodological, Teaching, Historical Perspectives and Comparison with Current Approaches”.  From 2007 to 2008 I conducted postdoctoral research at Ioannina University in Greece. (Thesis title: ELT in public schools through students’ eyes (1936-67), Research on teaching methodology and comparison with current approaches).  I have also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Aristotle University in Greece. I conducted a questionnaire based research to explore students’ attitudes towards CLIL.

Over the past 15 years I have extensive teaching experience in five Universities. Currently I am a Teaching Fellow at MSc TESOL, Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh. I am also an Academic Tutor at MEd TESOL of the Hellenic Open University, where I teach the module 'Course Design and Evaluation’. Overall I have either course organised or taught 14 undergraduate and 6 post graduate courses as well as supervised various TESOL related dissertations.

My scholarly interests involve:

-foreign language teaching methods and ways to implement them in class

-language teaching in the post methods era

-CLIL

-curriculum design and evaluation

-materials design and evaluation

-needs analysis

-students' and teachers' attitudes towards particular methodologies

-ESP methodology

-classroom management
