Description

A major issue in theatre studies today is the re-interpretation of the classics. The primary aim of this course is to examine the fundamental questions related to the possible interactions between a classical text and its modern revival(s) and/or appropriation(s). While investigating TMHMA A°°§IKH™ °§o™™?™ ??ð ?ð§?§?°ð?™ n SCHOOL OF ENGLISH 127 the past and present scope of this issue, we will explore the way this intercultural traffic affects every aspect of theatre practice and theory. As you can very well see from the reading list, the texts chosen originate from different cultural traditions and backgrounds. This is done deliberately because it is important to see how each culture revisits and reinterpretes tradition. Course textbook and outline / list of readings are available. Assessment: Final exam.
